East End Community Garden Kick Starter!

Help Support The East End Community Garden

Dan Cellucci, owner of The Roots Cafe & Sprout Music Collective is taking action!

Imagine an organic garden, tended by lots of volunteers, feeding the WC community and teaching kids about the importance of growing and eating fresh fruits and veggies. Dan’s got determination, passion, knowledge, not to mention mad cooking skills…he just needs a kickstart to buy the materials and labor to make it happen. If you believe the Melton Center could use a boost, kick in a little support!

The Roots Cafe & Sprout Music Collective has partnered with The Melton Center to build an East End Community Garden!

Along with Volunteers in West Chester , Roots Cafe and Sprout Music Collective Employees and Full Circle CSA we will be building and maintaining about 15 raised bed gardens in the vacant field adjacent too (and owned by) the Melton Center. There are many different benefits of these gardens. Firstly a large portion of all the produce grown will be donated to the West Chester Food Cupboard to ensure fresh produce throughout the year to those who are less fortunate and unable to afford it.

Next the gardens will be a learning center to teach the importance of cultivation and hard work to the children at the Melton Center. There will also be some advanced gardening, sustainability, and even cooking classes held at the gardens and at the Melton Center for the West Chester University students. We will be allowing groups to donate to the Center and in turn care for their own raised bed.
